Proper hidden gem!! Food and service fantastic, it all looked lovely, and we ordered far too much as usual... But enjoyed every bit of it. It is now a must do place when we go to Bradford..
Pros : Food was really good and priced well.Cons : Rating 1 star purely because of service and staff attitude. Mains arrived 1 hour and 37 mins from order time. Had to ask 4 times for water before we were served. When spoke to staff, the response was " we are really busy as you can see so it is not our fault". There was no empathy in their tone and in the end we were told "it's not our problem if you can't wait when it's busy".
Staff are very nice and always smiling. The decoration is very beautiful and the restaurant is very convenient for parties. The name is after one of the old gates of Damascus which gives a beautiful vibe. The food and beverages are excellent. Variety of unique Syrian food.
Delicious food and plenty of things to choose from on the menu, including options for vegetarians. If you haven't tried Syrian food before this is a very good introduction. Although the service can be a little slow, the people working here are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for a leisurely meal if you are not in a hurry.
Quaint little Syrian restaurant located 5-10 minutes walk from town centre. When I ate I enjoyed the humus and lamb skewers served with rice. I think it definitely captured the Syrian authenticity and the portions did eventually left me full but I feel like I was missing out on the good stuff and may have to visit another time to try more of the menu.The lemon-ice sorbet style drink was amazing however. Fantastically sweet garnished with fresh mint. Order a jug for the table upon any visit. You won't regret it.
